As a result of the Affordable Care Act, the Medicare Shared Savings Program was developed to facilitate coordination among providers, improve the quality of care received by Medicare Fee-For-Service (FFS) beneficiaries, and reduce unnecessary costs. The Shared Savings Program is designed to improve beneficiary outcomes and increase value of care by:

  • Promoting accountability for the care of Medicare FFS beneficiaries
  • Requiring coordination of care for all services provided under Medicare FFS
  • Encouraging investment in infrastructure and redesigned care processes

Eligible providers, hospitals, and suppliers may participate in the Shared Savings Program by creating or participating in an Accountable Care Organization, also called an ACO. The Shared Savings Program Application web page has important information and materials on the application process, including the Notice of Intent to Apply (NOI) Memo, the first step in the application process.

During this webinar, the CMS Region 5 Chief Medical Officer will present an overview of the Shared Savings Program and explain the application process. The time is Central Standard Time. Instructions on how to participate in the webinar and teleconference will be e-mailed to you the day of the presentation and are also posted below:
